Car Seat Safety Tips
Do's
- Only use the right seat for the child's weight and size.
- Use seats that conform to the latest standard.
- Make sure that the seat is compatible with your car, physically try it before you buy it.
- Make sure the seat is fitted securely for each journey. Follow the instructions and keep them with the system for easy reference. Better still, for complete peace of mind, when using a Graco AutoBaby invest in the safety base - only one click every time.
- Carry your children in the back of your car whenever possible.
- Check and adjust the harness for every journey (it will vary depending on what your child is wearing).
- Check your seat regularly for any damage or wear.
Don'ts
- Don't fit a child seat in the front passenger seat if an air bag is fitted.
- Don't ever buy a second hand car seat (however cheap) as it will probably have parts missing, no instructions or be damaged.
- Don't use a seat once the car has been in a collision. Buy a new one.
- Don't carry a child in your arms or place a seat belt round both of you as in a crash you will crush them.
- Don't modify the seat in any way as this could have very serious consequences in a crash.
